Lucknow, Sept. 28 -- Congress leader Dr. Udit Raj has strongly criticized the Uttar Pradesh government over the recent lathi charge on protesters in Bareilly, calling for an impartial investigation into the incident and accusing the ruling BJP of inciting communal tensions for political gain.
Dr. Raj condemned Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's controversial statement in which he remarked that it was necessary to carry out the "denting-painting" of a Maulana who was allegedly disturbing the peace.
"Many Maulanas are in alliance with the BJP, and it suits them to keep Hindu-Muslim tensions alive. What appears on the surface is not always the truth," said the Congress leader, raising questions about the government's intentions.
