Chandrapur, Jan. 20 -- Congress Legislature Party leader and MLA Vijay Wadettiwar on Tuesday claimed that the party has secured a clear majority in the Chandrapur Municipal Corporation to elect the mayor of its choice.
Speaking to reporters here, Wadettiwar claimed his party has secured the required numbers in the corporation to helm the new civic set up in the city in the Vidarbha region.
Rejecting claims by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) that Congress corporators are in touch with it, Wadettiwar said such statements by BJP leaders were baseless.
He alleged that BJP leaders had instead attempted to keep corporators together at a hotel in Nagpur to influence them.
