Lucknow, Jan. 17 -- The Congress party on Friday demanded strict action against police officials accused in the 2024 Sambhal violence case, insisting that the Uttar Pradesh government must comply with court orders, register an FIR against former Sambhal Circle Officer (CO) Anuj Chaudhary, and send him to jail.
Addressing a press conference at the Press Club in Lucknow, All India Congress Committee (AICC) Secretary Shahnawaz Alam said that the recent order of the Sambhal Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) raises serious questions over the magisterial inquiry conducted by the government into the violence. He alleged that the inquiry was aimed at giving a clean bill of health to the police and shielding them from accountability.
