Shillong, Sept. 18 -- The Meghalaya Pradesh Congress today criticised the newly formed National People's Party (NPP)-led Conrad Sangma cabinet for a lack of women and minority representation.
The Meghalaya Mahila Congress Committee termed the non-induction of a woman MLA as a minister in the government as a "betrayal" to Meghalaya's matrilineal society.
"Despite having many competent leaders within the ruling coalition, the government has failed to appoint even as single woman as minister," MPCC Secretary Manuel Badwar and Mahila Congress president Joplyn Shylla told reporters.
