Guwahati, Oct. 17 -- Criticising the Congress top brass for failing to show up during the cremation of Zubeen Garg, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma today welcomed Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, who is scheduled to meet Zubeen Garg's wife on Friday and visit the "samadhistal" of the iconic singer.
"We expected that someone from the top brass of the Congress would come and join us during the cremation at the designated place near Sonapur. However, neither Rahul Gandhi nor Priyanka Gandhi came," he said.
"I heard that Rahul Gandhi is coming tomorrow and will meet Garima Garg. I am welcoming him although he is late by 28 days," Sarma said.
