Guwahati, March 6 -- Putting an end to speculation, four political parties on Friday came under one platform with the common objective of defeating the BJP in the forthcoming elections.

Leaders including APCC president Gaurav Gogoi, Asom Jatiya Parishad chief Lurinjyoti Gogoi, CPI(M) State Secretary Suprakash Talukdar, and APHLC President John Ingti Kathar addressed a joint press conference.

"Today we have decided to join hands with one objective to defeat the communal politics of BJP. Today we are just four parties but we hope more political parties will join us before the elections so that we can strengthen ourselves," said APCC Chief Gaurav Gogoi.
