New Delhi, Sept. 27 -- The Indian National Congress today condemned the government's handling of the situation in Ladakh and the arrest of climate activist Sonam Wangchuk under the National Security Act.

In a post on X, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge accused the BJP of betraying the people of Ladakh by failing to deliver on its promise to grant the region Sixth Schedule status under the Constitution, which would have provided special protections and autonomy.

He said, "The Indian National Congress strongly condemns the pathetic handling of the situation in Ladakh by the Government & subsequent arrest of Sonam Wangchuk under the draconian National Security Act".
