Gaza City, March 19 -- German Chancellor Olaf Scholz expressed concern about civilian casualties in the Gaza Strip and the fate of hostages held by Palestinian movement Hamas following the resumption of hostilities in the enclave.

"We are deeply concerned about the civilian casualties in the Gaza Strip after the resumption of hostilities," Scholz said at a press conference with French President Emmanuel Macron on Tuesday.

The chancellor also expressed concern about the fate of the hostages remaining in the enclave.

"My clear demand to Hamas remains unchanged: release the hostages immediately. The political future of the Gaza Strip as a whole must be discussed. The plan proposed by the Arab League offers a good basis for this," Scholz add...
