Pune, Jan. 23 -- As part of a major environmental initiative, 44 police stations in Pune will be developed as eco-friendly "Green Police Stations," Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar announced on Friday.
Speaking at the inauguration of the Empress Garden Flower Show 2026, he said the police force will actively contribute to environmental conservation. "The Khaki force will now function as a green force," he quipped.
Commissioner Kumar highlighted the importance of preserving green spaces like Empress Garden, especially in the heart of the city, calling environmental protection a shared responsibility of the government and society. He assured that every police officer and staff member would support the initiative with commitment.
