Aizawl, Jan. 29 -- Mizoram Assembly Speaker Lalbiakzama on Saturday said the British colonial administration's failure to fully implement decisions taken at the 1892 Chin-Lushai Conference continues to have lasting consequences for the Zo people.

Addressing the 134th anniversary of the Chin-Lushai Conference organised by the Zo Re-unification Organisation (ZORO) in Aizawl, Lalbiakzama said the colonial government had resolved to bring all Zofate (ethnic Mizos) under a single administrative unit but failed to carry it through. As a result, he said, the Zo people were later fragmented by international borders.
