Mexico City, Aug. 28 -- A Colombian court has sentenced a 15-year-old teenager to seven years in a juvenile detention center for an armed attack on Senator and presidential candidate Miguel Uribe Turbay, the country's Attorney General's Office said.
"The judge ... sentenced the teenager, who admitted participating in the attack on Senator and possible presidential candidate Miguel Uribe Turbay ... he will spend seven years in a specialized institution," the office said on X.
The teenager pleaded guilty during a hearing on August 4, the statement read, adding that he agreed to charges of attempted murder and illegal arms trafficking.
