Bhubaneswar, April 19 -- union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Sunday announced plans for a dedicated four-line railway corridor along coastal Odisha, stretching from Balasore to Brahmapur, aimed at significantly enhancing connectivity and easing congestion on the busy Howrah-Chennai main line.
The proposed corridor, to be developed under the East Coast Railway, is expected to play a key role in strengthening both passenger and freight movement while supporting the state's economic growth.
Vaishnaw said the initiative is part of a broader push to integrate Odisha more closely with the national rail network.
