Chandigarh, Feb. 23 -- Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Friday announced that the sister of deceased farmer Shubkaran Singh will be given a government job. along with a financial assistance of Rs one crore to the aggrieved family.
He described it as a humble gesture towards the family of the 21 year old Shubkaran Singh, who died during the ongoing farmers' protest at the Khanauri border between Punjab and Haryana allegedly after a clash between security forces and the protesting farmers. The protesting farmers' unions and some anti-BJP political parties have claimed he was killed in police firing.
Mann said the state government is solidly by the side of the bereaved family in its hour of crisis.
