Kolkata, Sept. 8 -- West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Governor C V Ananda Bose has congratulated Purulia born filmmaker Anuparna Roy for creating history at the 82nd Venice Film Festival.
In a post on her X handle, the Chief Minister wrote in Bengali that she was delighted by the news of Roy's international honour.
"I congratulate her, her parents, and all her friends and supporters. Winning the Best Director award at the world renowned Venice Film Festival is no less than conquering the world of cinema. No Indian has received this recognition in this category before. This is a crown of glory for Bengal's daughters. I pray she continues to shine and make us proud," Banerjee wrote.
