Chandigarh, Feb. 23 -- Tension flared at a refinery in Haryana's Panipat district after thousands of striking workers allegedly clashed with security personnel and resorted to stone-pelting, officials said. The confrontation reportedly began when security forces asked the protesting employees to remain within a designated area and continue their demonstration peacefully.
According to local sources, the situation escalated soon after, with several workers advancing towards the security personnel carrying sticks. Some among the crowd allegedly hurled stones at the forces deployed at the site. In the ensuing chaos, multiple vehicles parked near an under-construction project area were overturned and damaged, further intensifying the unrest.
