Nagpur, Jan. 15 -- A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate was injured in a violent late-night clash in Nagpur on Wednesday, just hours before municipal elections, prompting police to launch an investigation as authorities scrambled to maintain peace ahead of polling.
The injured candidate has been identified as Bhushan Shingne, the BJP nominee from Ward No. 11 of the Nagpur Municipal Corporation.
The incident reportedly took place around midnight in the Gorewada area.
According to party leaders, Shingne had visited the locality after receiving information that anti-social elements were allegedly attempting to disturb the electoral process and distribute cash to voters.
