Dublin, Sept. 21 -- Cillian Murphy, the Irish thespian celebrated for his harrowing portrayal of Tommy Shelby in "Peaky Blinders", has reflected on more than a decade spent inhabiting the role of the formidable Birmingham crime lord.

Speaking to BBC News, the 49-year-old actor described portraying the notorious gang leader for over a quarter of his life as both "a gift and a privilege." But Murphy said that he's nothing like the character, joking that he's not a "psychopathic gangster".
