Dharamshala, Feb. 3 -- A 60-year-old Chinese national was apprehended in McLeodganj here for illegally staying in India for over 130 days near the residence of Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama, police said on Monday.
The security lapse came to light when the foreign national himself reached the Kangra Superintendent of Police (SP) office for some work. Police officials grew suspicious after he was unable to understand either Hindi or English. Subsequent verification of documents revealed that he had no valid Indian visa.
The accused has been identified as Lu Wenian (60), a resident of Sichuan province in China. His passport, issued from Yunnan, China, carried a Nepal tourist visa valid from June 29, 2025 to September 26, 2026. Howe...
