Vijayapura, April 15 -- In a shocking incident, Vijayapura Rural Police have arrested a man for allegedly killing his six-year-old son by throwing him into the Krishna river, reportedly driven by taunts from villagers doubting the child's resemblance to him.
Superintendent of Police Laxman Nimbargi said on Wednesday that the accused, identified as Mallikarjun Arakeri, a resident of Nagathan village in the district, has confessed to the crime during investigation.
According to police, the victim, Siddharth, was taken away by his father on March 16 under the pretext of securing school admission. However, Mallikarjun instead travelled to Vadoli in Maharashtra's Karad region, where he allegedly pushed the child into the river.
