Kolkata, March 26 -- West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's flight finally landed safely at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport on Thursday evening, albeit well behind schedule.

The landing was delayed because the flight had to stay mid-air for a long time due to severe storm conditions in Kolkata.

According to sources, the aircraft touched down at approximately 5:20 p.m., more than one-and-a-half hours after its scheduled arrival time of 3:40 p.m.

Sources in the Air Traffic Control Department of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport said that the delay was caused by intense rainfall, strong gusty winds, and poor visibility in and around the airport, which made landing unsafe for a considerable period.
