Raipur, March 29 -- The wait for Chhattisgarh's first gold at the Khelo India Tribal Games 2026 ended on Saturday when weightlifter Nikita lifted a total of 160 kg in the women's 77 kg category and stepped onto the top of the podium. Within minutes, the news had travelled from the competition venue to the Chief Minister's office, and the accolades began pouring in.

Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, who has been closely tracking the state's performance in the multi-disciplinary event, was among the first to congratulate the young athlete.
