Nashik, Feb. 17 -- A sudden release of water at Chankapur Dam in Kalvan taluka on Tuesday created a huge commotion in the backdrop of the yatra.
The release of water by the Water Resources Department without any official prior notice created an atmosphere of fear in the dam area.
Thousands of devotees and tourists had gathered in the dam area on Tuesday for the Chankapur Yatra. The sudden increase in the water flow caused a rush among the citizens for some time. There was no loss of life; however, it has been reported that two motorcycles were swept away in the water flow.
