Hyderabad, Jan. 14 -- union Coal and Mines Minister for Coal and Mines G Kishan Reddy on Wednesday welcomed the Central Government's decision to release funds for strengthening Gram Panchayats and local bodies in Telangana, saying it reflects the Centre's commitment to empowering grassroots democratic institutions.

In a statement, Kishan Reddy said the Central Government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi has released over Rs 11,000 crore to Gram Panchayats and local bodies in Telangana during the last decade.

He stated that between 2015-16 and 2019-20, the Centre released Rs 5,060 crore to Gram Panchayats in Telangana, while allocations increased by nearly 80 per cent between 2020-21 and 2025-26 to Rs 9,050 crore. Of this, Rs 6,051 crore...
