Aizawl, Jan. 16 -- The Central government has released Rs 15.20 crore to Mizoram for its rural local bodies under the Fifteenth Finance Commission (XV-FC) grants, providing a significant boost to grassroots governance and development across the State.

The amount, released during the financial year 2025-26, represents the second instalment of untied grants for the financial year 2024-25.

The funds will benefit all 808 eligible Village Councils in Mizoram, enabling them to address local development priorities.

According to official sources, the release of XV-FC grants to states for Rural Local Bodies (RLBs)is recommended by the Ministry of Panchayati Raj and the Ministry of Jal Shakti, Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation.
