Hyderabad, Feb. 6 -- union Minister for Coal and Mines G Kishan Reddy on Friday expressed happiness over the Central Government releasing funds for the strengthening of Gram Panchayats and local bodies in Telangana.

In a statement, he said the release followed the completion of the recent Panchayat elections in the state and discussions he held with the union Minister for Panchayati Raj soon after the polls.

Kishan Reddy said that over the past decade, the Central Government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi has released more than Rs 11,000 crore to Gram Panchayats and local bodies in Telangana.
