New Delhi, Feb. 6 -- The central government on Friday announced its decision to withdraw the wheat stock limit order issued in May last year, as India's privately held grain silos currently hold 81 lakh metric tonnes (LMT) of wheat as on date, 30 lakh MT more than last year.
However, the government said that all wheat-stocking entities will continue to be required to declare their stock positions every Friday on the food stock portal.
According to wheat stock declarations by private entities on the Department of Food and Public Distribution (DFPD) portal for the year 2025-26, "wheat stock availability with private players is significantly higher compared to the corresponding period last year," the announcement said.
