Hyderabad, April 7 -- The Ministry of Culture has launched the "Gyan Bharatam Mission," a nationwide initiative aimed at preserving and digitising India's rich manuscript heritage.

The mission invites individuals, families and institutions possessing rare manuscripts and palm-leaf records to come forward and contribute to the effort of safeguarding these historical assets, an official release said here on Tuesday.

Under the initiative, conservation experts will visit locations, scientifically preserve and digitise the manuscripts free of cost, while ensuring that the original documents remain with their owners.
