Vijayawada, April 7 -- The Central Government has approved the establishment of the National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB) Regional Office in the capital city, Amaravati.

Informing the media here on Tuesday, agriculture minister K Atchannaidu said that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu had written a letter to the central government urging it to take steps to set up the NFDB regional office in Amaravati.

Atchannaidu revealed that the central government expressed its willingness to set up a full-fledged regional centre in Amaravati, as Andhra Pradesh is a leading aquaculture state in the country.
