Chandigarh, Aug. 29 -- Punjab Water Resources Minister Barinder Kumar Goyal criticised the union Government and neighbouring states today, alleging double standards in dealing with Punjab's water issues.

He said that only a few months ago, when it came to diverting Punjab's share of water, laws and regulations were set aside to exploit the state's resources.

"But today, when Punjab is in urgent need of assistance, no one is stepping forward to help," the Minister said.

Speaking to the media after reviewing flood relief operations at Kawaan Wali Pattan, Goyal stressed that Punjab, being the nation's food bowl, deserves immediate and unconditional support.
