New Delhi, March 1 -- The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has introduced a deferred Customs duty payment facility for a new category of importers termed Eligible Manufacturer Importers (EMIs), in line with the announcement made in the union Budget 2026-27. The move is aimed at improving cash flow for domestic manufacturers, promoting compliance and furthering ease of doing business.
In a statement the Board said it has notified detailed eligibility conditions, the application process and operational guidelines through Circular No. 08/2026-Customs dated February 28, 2026.
