Chennai, Feb. 7 -- A Special CBI Court in Madurai has convicted and sentenced
five accused, including a former Bank official, to three years Rigorous Imprisonment
(RI) in a Rs 1.26 crore bank fraud case registered in 2010.
The accused included the then Chief Manager of Indian Overseas Bank (IOB),
Palayamkottai Branch in Tirunelveli district of Tamil Nadu and four private persons.
The court also imposed total fine of Rs 6.8 lakh on them.
A CBI release said the Special Court for CBI cases, Madurai, Judge sentenced the
five accused including G.Balasubramanian, then Chief Manager of IOB, Palayamkottai
Branch and 4 private persons, namely., N.Kalyanasundaram, Ms.K.Annasaraswathi,
D.Mohanraj and Ms K. Geetha to three years' RI and impose...
