Mysuru, May 7 -- RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat on Thursday triggered a fresh debate on caste and electoral politics, asserting that caste-based politics would automatically weaken once society itself moves beyond caste identities.
"If society forgets caste, politics will also stop functioning on caste lines," Bhagwat said while responding to a question on caste vote banks and political mobilisation at an interactive session here at JSS Mahavidyapeetha.
The RSS chief said political parties merely take advantage of social divisions that already exist and argued that lasting change must begin within society rather than through political confrontation alone.
