Thiruvananthapuram, April 13 -- Senior Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala has called for a high-level investigation into the mysterious death of first-year BDS student Nithin Raj of Kannur Dental College, raising serious concerns over alleged caste-based discrimination.
Chennithala urged the government to take seriously the allegations made by the student's family, who claim that sustained caste- and colour-based abuse led to his death. He stressed that those found responsible must be brought to justice without delay.
Criticising the authorities' response, he said that the suspension of two teachers alone was inadequate. According to him, the family has consistently maintained that the student faced severe caste discrimination on campus....
