Varanasi, April 13 -- After the tragic boat accident in the Yamuna River in Vrindavan in which 13 people were killed, police in the religious city of Kashi have gone on alert.
On Sunday, cases were filed against six boatmen at the Dashashwamedh and Bhelupur police stations for violating boat rules in the river Ganga despite all guidelines. Police also seized three boats.
Varanasi police are continuously cautioning boatmen not to allow any tourist or devotee to board a boat without a life jacket.
A comprehensive checking campaign was conducted on Sunday evening, which revealed serious negligence by boatmen in the Ganga.
