Damascus, Dec. 6 -- The Canadian government has removed Syria from its list of terror-sponsoring states, and officially revoked Ottawa's terrorist entity designation of the Islamist militant outfit Hayat Tahrir al-Sham's (HTS), joining the list of Western nations - who in recognition of the new Syrian regime - have proceeded to ease their economic restrictions on Damascus.
Ottawa's move came after the HTS ousted the country's long-time leader Bashar al-Assad, and took over the presidency of the war-torn nation last December.
