Washington, July 18 -- The Canadian government condemns the murder of civilians, primarily from the Druze community, in southern Syria, Global Affairs Canada (GAC) said on Friday.
"Canada condemns the killing of civilians, predominantly members of the Druze community, amid escalating violence in southern Syria. We call on all parties to respect the ceasefire and to take immediate and concrete steps to prevent the further spread of intercommunal violence," GAC said via its Canada Foreign Policy page on X.
Canada believes it is important to uphold Syrian sovereignty and territorial integrity, GAC added.
