Mumbai, Jan. 9 -- Tension surfaced between workers of the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Shiv Sena led by Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde during the Mumbai Municipal Corporation election campaign, after a controversial slogan triggered a public confrontation on Friday.

The situation escalated when BJP workers, using loudspeakers during campaigning in Ward 173, raised the slogan "50 khoke ekdum ok", a phrase that has so far been associated with criticism of the Shinde faction by the Thackeray group.
