Kolkata, Sept. 1 -- The Calcutta High Court today put an interim stay on the tender process initiated by the state government to transfer land adjoining the Alipore Zoological Garden for commercial use.
A division bench comprising Justice Sujoy Pal and Justice Smita Das De observed that the tender notification issued on July 23 would remain suspended until further orders of the court.
The bench also directed that no steps could be taken in connection with the process without its permission.
The land in question, located adjacent to the zoo, houses an aquarium, an auditorium, a veterinary hospital, a nursery and staff quarters, some of which are in a dilapidated condition.
