Bhubaneswar, Feb. 3 -- The 2026-27 union Budget allocation for railway infrastructure, track creation, station development, and safety enhancement has seen a 13-fold increase across Odisha in comparison to 2009-14, with an allocation of Rs 10,928 crore, said East Coast Railway (ECoR) officials on Monday.

While the budget allocation for 2009-14 fiscal stood at Rs 838 crore, it made a quantum jump to Rs 10,928 crore for 2026-27, indicating a 13-fold increase in allocation for railways in the State.

In addition, Rs 90,659 crore projects are in progress, to provide a massive facelift to the rail network.

Since 2014, approximately 2,200 km of tracks have been constructed, which is estimated to be more than the entire rail network of Malaysia....
