New Delhi, Oct. 10 -- The Sacred Relics of Lord Buddha, currently enshrined at the National Museum here, are set to be taken to the Republic of Kalmykia in Russia for a historic eight-day exposition beginning tomorrow.
The Holy Relics will be accompanied by a high-level Indian delegation, including 11 senior monks, who will conduct religious ceremonies and bestow blessings upon the predominantly Buddhist population of the region.
According to a statement issued by the union Ministry of Culture, the Holy Relics will be ceremonially received by Geshe Tenzin Choidak, the Shajin Lama and Head of the Buddhists of Kalmykia; Batu Sergeyevich Khasikov, Head of the Republic of Kalmykia; and other senior members of the Buddhist Sangha.
