Chennai, May 9 -- An anonymous email threat of bomb explosion at the iconic Chepauk cricket stadium, turned out to be a hoax on Friday, even as police have heightened security measures in Chennai city in view of escalating tension on the India-Pak border following recent terror acts.
The e-mail was received by the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA), which was administering the historic stadium, police sources said.
On being alerted, senior police officials along with Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad personnel with the help of sniffer dogs made a thorough search of the stadium.
However, no explosives were found and the threat turned out to be a hoax.
