Mumbai, Feb. 25 -- The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has set aside Rs 159.82 crore for its Environment and Climate Change Department in the 2026-27 civic budget, which has a total outlay of Rs 80,952 crore. The allocation is aimed at implementing the Mumbai Climate Action Plan, strengthening air pollution control measures and advancing various sustainability initiatives across the city.
The move comes at a time when Mumbai continues to grapple with a severe pollution crisis. The city has been witnessing poor to hazardous Air Quality Index levels for several months.
