Thiruvananthapuram, Jan. 13 -- BJP state president Rajeev Chandrasekhar has formally appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, requesting his intervention to rename the state of Kerala as 'Keralam'.

In his letter, Chandrasekhar highlighted that the BJP fully supports the resolution passed by the Kerala Legislative Assembly in June 2024, which proposed changing the official name of the state from 'Kerala' to 'Keralam'.

He emphasized that the party's ideology is rooted in protecting and promoting the state's linguistic and cultural heritage.
