Siliguri, May 4 -- North Bengal witnessed a striking electoral trend on counting day, with the BJP putting up an emphatic performance across the region's 54 Assembly seats. Based on trends observed since midday, the BJP appeared headed towards a tally of around 40 seats, while the Trinamool Congress was projected to secure roughly 14. Several results, however, were still awaiting official declaration, with the Election Commission indicating that the final figures would take more time.

From the outset of counting at 8 am, the momentum remained largely in favour of the BJP, and the trend held steady through the day, with only minor fluctuations in a few constituencies.
