Mumbai, Jan. 31 -- The Bharatiya Janata Party said on Saturday that the decision to appoint Sunetra Pawar as Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister was taken by the Ajit Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party, and that the BJP was extending support as an alliance partner in the Mahayuti government.

Speaking to reporters in Mumbai, BJP state spokesperson Navnath Ban said the choice to name Sunetra Pawar as Deputy Chief Minister in place of Ajit Pawar was an internal decision of the Nationalist Congress Party. He said that since the NCP is part of the ruling Mahayuti alliance, the BJP was only supporting the decision taken by its ally.
