Pune, Dec. 16 -- Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis today said that with Pune city and district having emerged as strongholds of both the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) led by Ajit Pawar, the two parties may contest against each other in the upcoming municipal elections.

However, Fadnavis clarified that such a contest would be a "friendly fight" without any bitterness. "Even if BJP and NCP face each other in Pune, it will be a cordial contest with no animosity," he noted.
