Sangli, Jan. 16 -- The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is heading toward a clear majority in the Miraj-Kupwad Municipal Corporation elections.
Out of a total of 78 seats, BJP candidates have won 33 seats so far.
The Congress has secured 12 seats, while the Nationalist Congress Party (Ajit Pawar faction) has also performed well, winning 13 seats. The Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) has managed to win 2 seats.
In a significant development, the Shiv Sena (Uddhav Thackeray faction) has failed to open its account in the Miraj-Kupwad Municipal Corporation, drawing attention to its poor performance in this election.
