Chandigarh, March 2 -- Senior BJP leader Sanjay Tandon has expressed gratitude to Punjab Governor and Administrator of union Territory, Chandigarh, Gulab Chand Kataria, for approving the enhancement of the monthly honorarium of numbardars in Chandigarh.
The decision comes as a significant relief to traditional village functionaries whose demand for a revision of wages had been pending for several years.
In a statement, Tandon said that consistent efforts made over time to secure improved financial support for numbardars have finally borne fruit. He added that the issue had been repeatedly raised with the UT Administration.
