Ranchi, March 20 -- The BJP on Friday criticised the Jharkhand government over a resolution passed by the Assembly opposing proposed changes related to MGNREGA, terming the move "against development and public interest".

Party spokesperson Ajay Sah alleged that the state government was engaging in "political considerations" instead of focusing on development.

He said opposing the revised framework of MGNREGA, which includes provisions for enhanced employment, would affect rural development and welfare of farmers and labourers.

Sah also referred to past irregularities in implementation of MGNREGA in the state and questioned the government's stand on the issue.
