Hyderabad, Feb. 22 -- The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday strongly condemned the arrest of its Telangana state president N. Ramchander Rao, who was detained by police while proceeding towards Banswada in Kamareddy district.

In a statement, BJP National Vice President and MP D. K. Aruna criticised the police action, questioning whether it was a "crime" for a state party president to travel and express solidarity with his party's kamarededy MLA Venkatramana Reddy who was attacked allegedly by youth congress workers.

The Congress workers also attacked party office in Kamareddy.
